Value of 1963 Merc 500EL

Before I attempt to fix this motor does anyone here know of its approx value?

1963 Merc 500EL

No spark, turns over easy by hand and battery but has made no attempt to start.

I do lack skill and time.

That is a tuff Question to answer.
What is the compression on the cylinders?
Actually worth more, parted out if you want to spend the time. on ebay.
You can buy an OEM merc Manual On Ebay if you want to Restore it yourself. .02
Very desiable motors to the Right person.

Where do you live Sierrac3? I have the same motor in Calgary AB Canada. I seen local people trying to sell old mercs for $1000 or more, but I can't see who would pay that. Since parts are now becoming totally obsolete, I don't know if I'll be will to put money in to mine. Although its not a big job. My gear house needs a retaining nut, that only $5, but I'm still thinking of getting a newer motor.

I am way too far away....... Belleville Ontario (where that little land mass sticks out on north shore of Lake Ontario).

I am just not sure what I am going to do with it?
