Hi guys I am new to the forum and I have a question about a 1993 Mariner 135. It has been a trouble free unit until this weekend but this problem has me puzzled. The motor starts and idles fine. It also revs fine in neutral, and reverse. But when it is put into forward gear it will run up to 1400 RPMs and stall out. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated ? Thanks

OK, first test. Have someone pump the primer bulb while trying to accelerate. See if the motor will take more fuel, as you accelerate. If it does (likely), it is time to test the high speed winding on the stator. The CDIElectronics.com web site will have a test for it.

Pumping the bulb did nothing for it. Same results as before . I replaced the fuel line, and filter also and got no change. It still idles fine, runs great in reverse and neutral but revs only to 1400 RPMs in forward gear. HELP!!!

I recommend you test the high speed stator windings IAW the CDIElectronics.com troubleshooting procedure.
