89 Force 50 not firing top cylinder...

My top cylinder is not firing and from what i gather the top two issues would be the coil and the trigger. Obviously the coil is the cheapest and easiest to replace but i want to make sure I'm not wasting time and money. Is there a way to test the coil to see if it's bad without just putting a new one on it?

Swap the two coils and see if the problem fallows the coil.

That's a pretty good idea. I'm also wondering if there's a voltage check that can be done on a coil to see if it's bad?
