Hi there

I noticed, that I have some water in the bilge. Usually this is bone dry and the sterndrive was fixed last year.

Is it possible (or known), that a waterpump leaks? (engine: Mercruiser 165 IL6)

It is a fres water cooling system.

Thanks for your answer,

do you have a closed system? If so a pressure test could be done to see if the water pump leaks.
I would also check the shift cable boot for a small crack.

Thank you very much.

It is a fresh water cooling system.
I realised it yesterday after driving quite a bit at 2000 rpm.

Also the boot that goes from the exhaust elbow to the ypipe can rot out from the inside.

Re: water in the bilge

leaks aren't specified to any one component/area on a boat, they can happen all over

to find the leak you have to get your head down in the bilge and look/listen for water dripping/running in

sometimes you won't find a leak until the engine is running
