I am very budgeted, so won't be doing an insane overhaul on day one. Just acquired what I believe is a 79 Sea Ray. I have been trying to hunt for a VIN plate, which of course leads you to clearing out wasp nests haha.

The boat isn't what some people would fall in love with, but I did.

I will look up the serial # when I can find it (someone posted links in my thread about my father's boat, thank you!! :) )

Question is, when you're dealing with a boat that's been sleeping beauty and you don't know the history at all (owner passed away), where's step one?

I want to see if I can get it running.

Step one would be to see if it turns over by hand.....pulling the spark plugs and a few squirts of oil in the cylinders... A socket on the crank shaft pulley bolt and rotate the motor.

Drain gas and replace with new. Check all fluid levels. Charge the battery, put on the muffs, and see if it will turn over. Good luck!
