I have a 1986 Force 50 with a "C" carb. It will start and run for about 60 seconds before dying. Any attempt to restart engine results in gas blowing out the side of carb. I can only assume the float is sticking. I can't determine why though.

not the float its the needle valve seat that need replacing ..when it starts the fuel pump is producing pressure and the float/needle valve is not able to hold it back.

Clean the carb.See how much junk is in there.Inspect the needle/seat(for garbage and wear) and the float level.
ANY junk in the carb means the tank is full of crap.Or the hoses need replacing.
Install a filter between the pump and the carb.Pics will help.J
