1991 225 johnson vro?

engine was running great last time out today kept cutting out at low idle changed inline fuel filter and spin off ran 5 miles to a wreck engine cut out had hard time starting pumed fuel ball got to run alittle bit and pulse alarm went off squeeze primer ball for oil tank and it goes off for a little bit then comes back on can't run motor with out pumping fuel primer. bad vro or something else ?

If it runs fine when you pump the ball then it sounds like it is the VRO pump. However, if you pump the fuel ball it will pump fuel only, no oil. That is why the oil alarm was going off. There is a chart on here for testing the pump. Depending on how far you limped it back might want to check compression, pull the heads, etc. Been in this situation twice. The first time i pumped the ball and got home, then rebuilt the engine. The second time I pumped the oil from the reservoir into the fuel tank and then pumped the ball home.

I'm having that same problem with my 175. It boggs down then kicks back in, does it over and over, faster and faster til it is back up to full speed. If I stay back at the motor and massage the bulb it runs like a top. I have replaced the lines from the tank to the motor with new bulb and filters. The vent is clear but the bulb will colapse while running. idles in the driveway with no problem... Help!
