Re: no fire to coils

Disconnect the black/yellow wire from the pack and see what happens.

Re: no fire to coils

Disconnect the two yellow wires from the stator to the voltage regulator/ rectifier and see she will start. This is the first step in troubleshooting from CDI.

Re: no fire to coils

only 2 ign components can cause that. power pack/cdmodule, and the stator,, a power pack is relatively cheap. it cost more to have it checked out,, replace the pack,, if it doesn't fix it,, take her to the service shop for a stator,, you can do the pack yourself, the stator you cannot. 95 % chance the pack is bad. 5 % chance the stator ias bad.. if you have 550-650 ohms on the 2 yellow wires, then your stator is good

no fire to the 4 coils on a 2000 115 johnson
powerpack has no output TO the coils?

thanks but still not firing.yellow and red wire has 12 volts when turning engine over but no fire out of the coils.
powerpack has output to the coils but the coils are not firing to the plugs?

thanks.all 4 coils still not firing
powerpack has output to the coils but the coils are not firing to the plugs?

Please clarify. It looks like you are saying the original problem was that the powerpack was not sending voltage to the coils, then you disconnected the wires boobie and hidef recommended, and now the powerpack is firing to the coils but the voltage goes into the coils and doesn't come out the other side?

The next steps need specifics on exactly what you tested and with what tools. Without more specific information it's hard to give a good next step.

Re: no fire to coils

i guarantee he's using a simple volt meter, and the red wire he is checking is just battery voltage.
without a dva meter, he can only swap parts

Re: no fire to coils

If this is a 60* mtr you could also have a bad OSI sensor.

Re: no fire to coils

The optical sensor is under the flywheel. Very easy to swap out if you have a flywheel puller. You need to loosen the big nut that holds down the flywheel but do not remove it. Attach the puller and break the flywheel free of the crankshaft. Remove the big nut and then carefully remove the flywheel. You will see the stator and the optical sensor.
