1975 Evinrude 70 hp Tilt and Trim Wiring

Just installed new tilt and trim motor and now the motor won't work .The solenoid will make a thumping noise when the switch is pushed but the motor never starts . Don't know what to try next . Any ideas?

Are you talking about the trim motor or the engine itself?

I am sorry it is the trim motor that will not start . I installed the new motor and a selenoid . It only thumps when you press the up button.
