Hello, i am new to this forum and boating. I have a 1986 Renken 2.5 omc gm inboard engine. Where is the fuel filter located? I think it is in the cone shaped thing on the left side of the engine. Is this right or wrong? Please help!!!!

I think it is in the cone shaped thing on the left side of the engine.

Howdy,

Welcome aboard.

Well, a filter can look like many things. It's usually (INLINE) in the fuel supply line from the fuel tank to the fuel pump.

Some people mistakenly install them after the fuel pump but before the carb. Not a good place to put them, because if they're going to leak, they absolutely leak with fuel pressure on them. if they're on the "tank-side" of the pump, they'll just suck air and not leak fuel into the bilge (BOOM!!!)

Your boat might not have come with a fuel filter and someone may have added one.

EDIT: AND MAYBE IT DID!!!;)

Take a picture of what you think is the fuel filter and post it here......

Regards,

Rick
