Hi, I have a 2002 Johnson 2 Stroke 115 HP. I replaced the shift cable, because the problem I am having was with gear shifting reverse not engaging. That did not fix the problem. I pulled the lower unit and removed the housing over the shift rod and cleaned salt build up under the seal and housing. The shifting was good for a couple of days, now it feels like it is binding again. Now I am having trouble gear shifting forward not engaging. Should I replace that housing and seal over the shift rod? Anybody have a similar problem?
