Boy I could really use some help.

I have an 85 Baja Force with a MerCruiser 350. It has a Rochester QJet that keeps flooding out at low RPMS.

I have replaced the carb with a factory rebuild, replaced the fuel pump, replaced the float (and have it adjusted to factory setttings), replaced the vacuum line...and it still keeps flooding (although not as much)...can't think what else to check???

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance

There are several threads here to help you out! Keep searching. It's gonna be a gasket. Maybe somebody can post a link!

Put a fuel rated pressure gauge on the fuel line between the pump & the carb. You only need about 6 PSI. You didn't use an electric pump for fuel injection by any chance, did you?
When this happens can you see the fuel overflowing? Where does it come out?

Hi NHGuy...

OK, this is Ben's wife;) he is not a night owl. Thank you for the suggestions. I'll try to answer as best as I can...

No, no electric pump, I do know that...

I think Ben said that you can see the fuel overflowing the well???

Thanks!!!

Could be a bad new fuel pump that the Diaphragm is bad and sending fuel thru the overflow tube to the carb.

You say it's only at low rpms? does it occur when you're running higher? could there be an idle circuit that is dirty (doesn't make a lot of sense as i know you said you changed out the whole carb) vs the cruising/wot circuits?

Yeah usually I would think that would maybe be a stuck float or something -- but if you say your drop and level are good, shouldn't be that.

Same exact symptom after replacing/tuning the entire carb/components? Probably not the carb itself then!

yep...only at low rpms...haven't had it in the water as yet this year. I thought it was the float too, but I've replaced everything I can think of (+gaskets) and everything I mentioned above...really frustrating

Thanks for the input everyone...very much appreciated :)
