prop for power

Just got a 1986 20' Carrera 4.3 OMC. Came with 4 blade prop. If the MPH gauge is right I'm going about 43 MPH at about 5000 rpms. That's full throttle. I want to increase my speed by putting on a:D 3 blade prop. I understand I can get another 300-400 HP by doing this. Does anybody have any knowledge of what pitch prop I would meed to get. Anybody else out there running a similar Motor with a 3 blade prop? Help me if you can.

Huh? Clearly you understand wrong...I'm taking this as a typo I hope??

Do you know what your outdrive gear ratio is? That would be helpful information to help people here give good advice. We also need to know your current prop's pitch.

You're already at max RPM for you engine. Realistically, the best you can hope for is around a 10% gain in speed (3 or 4 MPH) at the same RPM by going to a more efficient prop.

Speaking very broadly a 3 blade prop with a 2" bigger pitch should get you somespeed. without killing too much rpm.
Also being sure the motor is properly tuned and the throttle opens all the way.
