My problems seem to only get worse.....

1988 Mariner 90hp 3 Cylinder

I began to closely look my outboard over and I found an crack on the block. About 1" to 1 1/2" long. Very narrow, but there. Some outward bulge along the crack. Slight oil seeping from crack.

I went ahead and took it to the shop for the impossible cold start issue (It runs great once warmed up). They are doing compression test and checking for abnormal vibration/noise and I showed them the crack.

They told me it could need a complete rebuild. $2k....ouch. And the motor may not be worth fixing.

I keep seeing things about MarineTex, JB Weld, Etc.....

Here's a sketch of the crack and it's location......

Re: Cracked Block

Thanks for the reply Fishing Dude.
Are you saying the crack shouldn't be a problem? Or was that, if I replace the block it won't be a problem haha?
