I have a 1987 25' cruiser seadevil with an alpha 1 generation 1 outdrive. The boat is taking on water from a small hole in the transom plate. When the boat's under power the water is spraying out of the hole. When the boat is not under power the water is just dripping. The hole is next to the intake fitting from the outdrive. Does anybody have any idea what the hole is and why water is coming through it? Thanks.

Re: Boat leaking

Leaking drive bellows would be my first guess.

No -- but I can recommend that you stop jumping into someone elses thread. We are here to help. But you complicate things when you hijack someone elses thread. Makes it difficult to stay focused on the original problem. Start your own thread.

You know, I just wonder if a small bellows leak could be fixed with a product like Aquaseal, sold in most dive shops or even Amazon.com? I've used it successfully in the past to repair a leaking water bed mattress. What I really liked about it was that I didn't have to empty the mattress to get it to work.

The stuff has a consistency similar to model airplane cement. You just smear it on the damaged area and it forms its own patch. It will cure over 24 hours as is or you can mix some Cotol-240 with it (also sold by the same dealers) to speed up the cure to a couple of hours. I've never had a waterbed mattress ever leak from the same place after a repair, even after several years of use.

Just a thought....
