So I bought a boat (my first). It's a 2001 Carvelle Interceptor 212. It has a Volvo penta 5.7GS in it. I took it out to the lake, and noticed two problems... First and foremost, I'm 23 so im not all expierenced or nothing and would definately appreciate any and all responses here.

1.) It feels like my boats "riding high" in the front. I've changed the tilt of the prop to all angles (my boat has a guage showing current position). But yet it continues to feel high. Is this normal? When I let off the gas, it feels even. I was thinking maybe this was the prop, but again im new on the bus and would like opinions.

2.) Another frustrating problem. When I get to max speed, or if im cruising and want to go faster - it will make a sound that sounds just like a misfire or backfire. I can keep it pinned but usually the best way to fix this is to ease off the gas. I was thinking about changing or looking at the spark plugs next weekend once I find an owners manual.

Again, I appreciate any and all responses. I'm willing to do the work and learn, I just need thoughts on the idea I suppose. Thanks in advance - Brandon

Need the motor type and all the #'s and letters for the drive too.
The trim should change the angle of the boat. You just might have a boat that rides nose up.
Back fire could be water in the gas.You have a water /fuel seperating filter? Check/change it and see if there is any water.
Profile?? Find a good mechanic in your area that will help.J

if you go really fast like you want and the bow is riding real high maybe the boat will flip over if a big wave hits it.

You can weight down the front. I moved the battery forward to the middle and put lead bricks in the bow. Made it level out at speed and when getting out of the hole was much better. I have twin saddle tanks and another Idea I had was moving them up the side.

missing could be spark plugs or fuel flow or poor spark. Takes more firepower when the engine is racing.
