Hi guys,

I'm rebuilding a spare gearbox for my '69 Mercury 1000 6 cyl, so I can swap it out for my current one that has an iffy reverse.

My serial number plate was taken off when I rebuilt and painted the leg assembly, and genius that I am mixed it up with a stack of old serial plates from previous rebuilds/donors :facepalm:

I've got the gearcase off at the powder coaters right now, so I need to get a lower unit seal kit ordered.

Is this the right one?

I'm also looking for the correct impeller housing part numbers (already have a spare impeller) for both the top and bottom of the unit and the stainless plate.

I'd appreciate any help you guys could spare me :)

I found the serial number stamped on the block where the starter motor bolts through. It's 2320495, can anyone tell me what year/model this is?

kwik;

It is a 1968:

100 1968 S&L 2318586 - 2484632 2320991

From here:

http://www.maxrules.com/models/Merc_model_files/60-100.html

It is a model:

1100108 MERCURY 1968 100

Parts listing:

http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury-outboard/438.cfm

Some people seem to have luck with the Sierra kits but as most of the parts you require are available, I would be ordering the original p/n but that is just my preference.

Look under GEAR HOUSING ASSEMBLY, COMPLETE (PAGE 1) for the waterpump parts you require.
