Cable adjustment/Stalling under load

Hello All,

I have a Mercury 1996 3.0 that does not see much use. Last summer had all bellows, shift cables, outdive trim sensors etc replaced. I used the boat once last summer and expeirienced a problem where, when increasing throttle from idle/no wake speed to faster, the engine would occasinally stall.

I just "un winterized" the boat this weekend and it does start fine and idles fine as well, however now, the proble described above can not be overcome (whether in gear or not). It just dies when trying to go from low to high rpms. (I can start it wot)

I believe this to be a simple cable adjustment on the top side of motor just not 100% sure.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Re: Cable adjustment/Stalling under load

Bt Doctur, Thanks for the reply, had the carb rebuilt last year at the same time as all the other work, thats why I was leaning toward the cable theory..... I had someone move the throttle and it seems like there is slack in it when observed from the engine as handle is moved (this is after in gear and at idle speed). thanks again
