I just had the carb replaced on my boat. The first one that was put in must have been faulty, because it would not accelerate at all. He replaced it with another and adjusted it. My boat used to go around 38 mph, now it will only do 22 mph at around 3700 rpms wide open. What on earth could be causing this? It seems to run good. Mechanic said the gas in tank is a year old and could be causing the problem and to use up gas and replace with new. I don't think this makes sense. Paid $550 for carb, expected better performance. Could it be that he replaced it with the wrong carburator?
