Hey guys still waiting for damn SEARS parts to send 2 back ordered things, really hurting my turn around time with this motor.

Want to get done what I can and I started to clean/rebuild the carb.

How to I set the carb float height? And what should it be?

Model 217-586612 5HP Gamefisher

Thanks again!!!,

Re: Carberator Float height

You can soak it a couple of days in clean gasoline. The float height is set by bending the little tab that bears on the needle. With the float bowl off, and the carb upside down, there should be an 11/64" gap between the float and the cast carb body, as measured opposite the float hinge. Most folks use an 11/64" drill bit as a gauge. Sears gets their parts from Certified Parts Corporation, and you get double dipped on shipping and turn around time. You can call them with part numbers, and they'll hook you up. You can also get parts from here;

You should also sign up for this group;

Lots of good resources for Eska victims there - My impairment is a 7.5 hp.

MahtyMaht you are the man !

That part site had both of whats back ordered and the yahoo groups is cool !!

Should I cancel the sears parts order and get those 2 parts from that site, hows the shipping time on that site?

Also thanks for the carb float info, all of this is priceless to me.

Yeah this 5HP isn't mine, but I do have a (Tanaka) Gamefisher 1.75 that I bought some simple parts for and put on the back burner. Iv'e got so many projects on my plate, I kinda bite of more than I can chew .

Thanks again !!!
