7.5 merc no spark

hi everyone
can you guys help me i just got a 7.5 merc and i have no spark at the plugs
i looked under the flywheel for points but dont see any and the coils look good whireing looks good but im baffeled PLEASE HELP

Hey Tom, I think you meant to say you looked under the "distributor cap" for points but didnt see any. I wasnt aware of any points mounted behind the flywheel. First things first, take the coil wire off the distributor and put it within 1/2" of a ground and crank the engine. Do you have spark? That will tell you where to start. If you have a bright blue spark, the coil should be good and you need to replace the distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs, wires, or all the above. Check the adults only section at the top of this forum for some great information that will get you back on the water in no time.

Did you check the kil switch?
