well still cannot get my 1989 2155 bayliner to plane so i guess the best solution is to repower it from the 3.0l/cobra leg to ????
i am considering 2 options the 165hp gm inline 6cyl the cheapest or 4.3l v6 really expensive..
so my question is..does anyone have experience using the gm 6cyl in a boat of about 3100lbs like the bayliner 2155??

Re: gm inline 6 cyl

better than what you have but still a lot of boat for a little motor but should plane out ther was 2 inline 6s well more if u go back a ways. but ther was a 250 and the harder to find 292 that was really good on torque. and they look the same.u will need a new prop with anything u put in ther thats bigger thers a lot u can do to the 3.0 for performance so if you gota buy the others id redo that motor. buy a new prop.not hard to get 50hp on a rebuild.or think v8

Ayuh,... Agreed,...

Seein's yer outdrive will be Useless to ya with any of the bigger motors,...

I'd be thinkin' Mercruiser, pulleys to prop instead...
