water separator?

does the stock fuel filter on a Volvo Penta 5.7 motor have a built-in water separator? If not is it advisable to add-on a water separator?

A full model number would be helpful to tell exactly what you have.

I can tell you that if its a carbureted model with a fuel pump/filter assembly stuck on the front of the engine.....that filter is a fuel/water separator.

Ayuh,... If it has a canister type filter,..??...
That's a water separator, by design...

So long as it don't get Full of water, gravity stops the flow of water....
