120 Force Outboard

I just bought a Bayliner Capri with a 1988 120 Force outboard on it. I am having a hard time finding the serial number on the motor. There is a number on the transom but i can't read it, is there any other place they put the serial number.

Try looking inside the cowling, on the pan, under where the cables enter the pan.
