Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and tried searching for an answer before posting my ??. I bought a 2004 Crownline 208 w/a VP 5.0 GXi-D in her. Some history: the tach was bad, replaced it and repainted the dash. After reinstalling everything, the oil pressure gauge stopped working. Ordered a rebuilt one from Faria and replaced it. New gauge seemed to be working fine, at first. Running the boat at speed, everything was fine, however at idle forward coming to the beach, an alarm went off. The temp gauge was up around 200, and the oil pressure gauge was fluttering low (erratticly). Shut her off, let her cool down. Went back to trailer. All gauges fine and no alarm at speed, but at idle, temp would come up and oil pressure gauge flutters again, alarm went off. I replaced the impeller after that (former owner wasn't sure when last done). Problem still happened--again-only after running for a while, then slowing to idle). I just replaced the thermostat and the housing was pretty nasty--got it really cleaned up. Hooked to flush, gauge gets up to 150 and stays. Haven't had a chance to run her yet. The oil pressure gauge still flutters at idle.

My questions:1) Where is the oil press sending unit? Block on the port side close to rear? If so, why do I still get a reading on the gauge when I unplug it?
2) Could this be a bad gauge?
3) Other thoughts?
I know I'll learn more when I get back out and run her again and watch the temp after running and coming to idle. (Also forgot to say that when watching the temp gauge go up, as soon as going fast again, the temp would drop back down--making me think the forced water was cooling the engine--stuck thermostat I hope).

Thanks guys, sorry for the long post.
