Fuel tank connections?

I just ran all new fuel lines two my switch and two six gallon portable tanks. At the tanks I used a "Yamaha" style connector. Will these work on my 72 1150 Merc, or do I need a Mercury specific connector?

As long as it is from a larger Yamaha motor (3/8" fuel line), the fuel capacity should be fine. I ran my '77 Merc IL 6 on J/E connectors for years.
