i have a 1150 mercury outboard 115 hp when you first try to start it doesnt want to start unless you use either i dont like the ideal of useing either because its hard on stuff and has no lubrication but once you get it start it seems to run fine once you shut it off for a little bit you have to crank on it and squeeze the primer bulb to get it to start back up was wondering if the fuel pump good cause this or not

Re: hard to start when cold

First off, welcome to iboats.

#1, NEVER use either or starting fluid on a 2-stroke!!!!!

#2, These inlines LOVE a LOT of fuel to start. The best waqy to start one of these beasts is as follows.

Pump bulb till firm.

Lift cold start lever all the way up.

Turn key and press the choke botton.

Crank engine. Once it fires, let go of key and choke botton and bring cold start lever down to keep RPM's under 1200 until warm.

Hope this helps. It's worked for every inline 6 I have ever used.
