I just bought a 1984 Larson Bowrider with a Gm 305ci engine. The outdrive went up and down a few times and now is not working. I can hear the relay clicking when you push the up/dwn switch. I tapped on the electric drive motor and it worked once. Has stopped again.
Also when I put it in reverse and try to give it any throttle it stalls. Help please I am new to all of this.

Re: Larson

I think an '84 is still a stringer drive. As far as your tilt - since it worked after tapping it once, I would suggest pulling the motor and having it rebuilt. Cheaper than a new motor and probably can't hurt to have it done. It doesn't sound like the solenoids, but those are pretty cheap and easy to replace while you're at it.

Does it stall in forward too or just reverse? I'm wondering if you're just giving it too much throttle in reverse. It's recommended to go real easy in reverse.
