Old Evinrude

My first post.
A friend of mine picked this out of the dump. The first 4 digits on the ID plate are 4023.
From what I found it is a 1934 5.1 HP. But from some pics I found I was thinking more like somewhere in the 50's. Can anyone verify this for me or give me a good source to find it. Thanks

Looks like a late "40s or early '50s model.

What is your guess or opinion on year and HP? What other info can I give to help.
Does 4423 sound about right. The plate is a little hard to read.

Closer to reality:
4423 3.3HP 1947-51

I had an early 50's Evinrude years ago which looked similar to yours. Mine had a fuel level sight gage in the center front of the motor, and was under 4 HP.

Thanks for the info. It does have the same fuel level sight gage you mentioned. It seems to be all there, not seized and cleaned up pretty well. Glad he was able to save it from the dump. Thanks again.
