Johnsen 9.9/15 dies then comes good

When running at good speed the motor suddenly loses power but after throttling back it comes good again, any clues?

I forgot to say, it's a 1996 9.9hp that has been converted to 15hp

pump the primer bulb while this is going on, if it seems to eliminate the problem then you've got a fuel delivery problem..if not..post back

Do a spark gap test when it is acting up if that's possible. Sounds like ignition system trouble to me. Could be gas too though. Best of luck. Rick.
