i have a 1974 evinrude lark 50.it idles great,even goes in reverse.when i put it in gear to go forward it dies.ocasionaly it will go but when it gets up to speed it starts to cut out and loose power,then dies.it will restart easily and idle good.then when i put it in gear it dies.
what could be the problem?please help.it's july and i should be on the water.
Do the basic checks first. Compression, spark. Verify good even compression and spark that jumps a 7/16" gap on a tester. At what RPM does your motor idle at? You might have your idle set too low.
