Does anyone know the correct point settings and spark plug gap on a 1984 15hp Force outboard? My friend "loaned" me his to use until I can save up the cash to buy a motor, of course, "it may need to be tuned-up"! Didn't have any spark at all, I replaced the condensers and points and now have spark. Runs great at idle, sputters at anything above that. Just need to fine tune! Thanks!

Re: Plug and point gaps on 1984??? 15hp Force ?

All I can find is .020 but I have seen .015 somewhere. I know .020 is the gap on my 1970 35HP Chrysler and it possibly was on the flywheel. I feel I have seen newer engines that are not magneto systems suggested at .015. Is there a chart with this info in Clymer, Chrysler/Force, Outboard Shop Manuals, 3.5 ? 140 HP - 1966-1988? If so, where? Oops! I did find all breaker points under a flywheel are set at .020, in a dist. .014 in 3 cyl or .010 in cyl (page 127), jow

Points are .020" for sure. Plug Gap should be .035 I believe. That's what my 15 Sea King is.
