Motor is a 1975 Johnson 115hp with no spark at all. Boat just died yesterday after 10 min of WOT, then after touching the heads to make sure it wasn't melting I started it again, then it died after about 10 min of WOT. This went on a total of 4 times on the way back to the boat launch. Then it simply would not start again and a tow was needed, at least I could fish off the back while getting towed in.

No spark on any cylinder.
I disconnected the black/yellow ground wire which did not improve the situation.
Rectifier Ohms test works one way and not the other.
I know it doesn't mean much but the view of the stator under the flywheel looks OK no visible issues from that vantage.

Re stator test, I am using a FLUKE 83 Multimeter and the analog bar graph which is not a DVA, but all I have on the 4th of July weekend.

My multimeter is set to AC and 4 (options are 4, 40, 400, 4000, 400mv).

With contacts on the brown and brown yellow wires I am getting readings of approx 2.50. It ranges between 2.49 and 2.57

I would think I need to set the multimeter to 400 and be getting 250. I can not get my hands on a DVA until the end of the week. I'm hoping this is enough to determine if my stator is doing it's job.

My experience with the various settings of my multimeter is very limited and have never tested a stator before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
