1994 Mercury Tracker pro series 40 hp/water pump

This is my first go around with changing the water pump. I was not sure what to expect when dropping the lower unit...there were a couple of hoses and what seemed like a shaft connected to the lower unit. I was apprehensive to continue on. What is the proper procedure for changing the water pump?

Hi,

I am about to undertake the same as you and was wondering about any tricks/tips I might could use. Was there a secret to getting the shifter shaft apart or back together?
