Hi,

My 1992 Evinrude 175 hp, run only on 5 cylinders everything was check, ignition, fuel and when i took the compression cylinder #3 get 0 in compression all the other one are correct. I removed the head and everything seems okay except that i have a doubt on the o-ring head gasket. Do you think is possible to get 0 in compression on only one cylinder with a bad o ring ?

Thanks a lot for your help

It looks like it takes six o-rings, so I guess that one cylinder could blow the o-ring and loose compression on that cylinder.

Hi, yes i remove the head and crank the engine and everything seems okay, i looked after the first ring and it's not stuck in the groove of the piston, cylinder is very clean no marks on it, but the thing strange it's compression at 0 ! i have a doubt that only a bad o ring can make this compression at 0. i will replace all o rings and see.

After you replace the orings just for the heck of it try another compression gauge. It's vary rare that these orings give compression probs.
