Recently acquired a 1976 3 cyl 65 hp Merc.
Ran perfectly at test run, got it home and wouldn't hit a lick...No spark.
Ordered Seloc book and did all the tests noted therein.
Trigger is toast. Stator and coils test within spec. Further inspection noted trigger wiring inside heat shield traveling up under flywheel had crumbled leaving all four wires twisted and shorted together. Common situation as I understand it.
My question...Is it likely under these conditions that the switchbox is also toast? The book does not show a way to test the switchbox.
Thanks to the Merc mechanics who have been here before.
