2002 Mercuiser alpha 1 out-drive bellow

Just found out that the shift cable bellow has a tear.lucky me:facepalm:.Does anyone know if its possible at all to replace the bellow without removing the entire out-drive.could you possibly point me in the right direction.thanks and God bless.

Nope. Gotta pull the outdrive. You can leave the bell housing in place though. It's not as tough as it sounds though, a helper will make it MUUUUUCH easier...

Ayuh,.... At least the drive has to come off,...

If the bellows, 'n shift cable are the original equipment,...
You should consider changing ALL of 'em at once...
They only expected to last 5 to 8 years,...
Yer's are Well over due for replacin'...

Removing "the entire outdrive" is nothing to be afraid of, and something you need to learn how to do if you expect to do any of your own maintenance. Download the appropriate manual for your setup and do a little research and you will find out how easy it is.
