1979 Johnson 115 runs fine then revs freely

I have a 1979 johnson 115 that will run just great,until the boat almost planes out,then it starts to rev freely and the boat slows,like the prop is no longer pushing,it will sometimes be ok if I throttle back just as it planes,but not always,then I out it in neutral and start over,and the same thing all over. What do you think I have going on here?

Prop failure. It's hard to tell by looking at it or turning the hub. Often the hub goes out and only fails at higher loads but will hold up at less loads.

had the same problem years ago and the hub of the prop was spinning inside the prop. have the prop rebuilt if it is in good shape but if not replacement prop would be cheaper than repair of old prop and replacment hub.
