Hello everyone,
This is my first post here and i was hoping there may be some answers to a problem or two i am having. I bought a 16 ft invader boat with a 135 hp merc black max last year. The boat ran well all last year but at the end of the year, a cleat broke off the boat due to a massive wind storm, the plug somehow?? came out and the boat was submerged. Water got in the boat just below the throttle mechanism. The inside had water about halfway filled in the boat. It didn't look like the motor or anything mechanical was underwater (although I am not counting this out). I pumped it all out, dried it out good and put it away properly for the winter. Well i brought it out the other day and i noticed that my temperature gauge went up quickly as i gave it gas. I came to realize (i hope) that this was due to the motor working overtime because my trim would not go up all the way and when it did, it fell back to the "neutral" position. The bow would then stick up out of the water and not level off properly. When it is in neutral, the trim raises all the way, but then slowly decends. This also happens when i give it gas - trim goes up (but not all the way) and then comes back down. I am not sure what the problem could be. Can it be low on fluid? Seals maybe? Wiring? I'm thinking it must have something to do with the boat filling up with water at the end of the year last year. I don't know where water could have gotten into though. I see some poople on here mention some screw that can be turned 3 times? As you can see i am not a professional on this matter, but do tinker on motors. I am hoping it is overheating because it is working too hard because the trim won't level out the boat. If i can fix the trim problem, it should (I hope) alleviate any overheating issues that I have. If anyone out there has any ideas, that would be so totally appreciated! Thanks much for reading and happy boating fellas!
