I just bought a 1990 200 johnson ran good other than the mid section having a crak near the foot and leaking exhaust. I have to pull the head to replace the mid section. And was wondering about changing the head gaskets out while it was off. they have some salt deposits around them. Or just leave well enough alone? Guy stated the motor had alot of hours unsure how many. compression is.................

Leave a sleeping dog lie and do a good decarb on the mtr when you get it running. Where I'm at the salt deposits are normal. Do the decarb before changing head gaskets.

alright will leave the gaskets alone for now. As far as the compression is that a little low or normal for the v6 motors?

No, that is pretty normal for the big V6s, but the span is a bit large. Decarb and retest.
