Someone HELP!! Dealing with my first boat that i purchased about a month ago. Its a 2007 Bayliner 175 with the wimpy 3.0 mercruiser engine. The boat only has about 35 hours on it and I've had it out a few times since i bought it and its always ran flawlessly but lately after starting it up and letting it idle after 1-2 minutes it will for lack of better words "choke out" and die. It will run fine all day long at higher rpms hot or cold but once it warms up it just will not idle unless you keep it over 1500 or so rpms. -makes for some fun docking:eek:

So far i have replaced the fuel filter, drained the fuel and filled it up with 93 octane non-ethanol, replaced the plugs, and took apart the carb and inspected it (it was spotless inside).....trying to figure this out myself i guess as the local mercruiser guy is backed up for weeks and am wanting to use the boat soon

Thanks in advance guys and gals!!

Did you check the timing?

Also, you can't really see all the tiny ports inside, by taking the top off the carb. A kit don't cost that much, and isn't that hard to do. If I even suspected the carb, I'd pull it, soak it in carb cleaner, put a kit in it, check the float settings and reinstall.

Did you ever figure this out? I have a 3.O L, 135 Hp (4 cyl) starting to do same thing as well?

Do you have the TKS (turn key start) carb on there?
