Hi all,
This is my third tohatsu and it has been running very nice for 5 years now ( 5 summers in use, first summer was 2007) It has always started right away, well it is served pretty good every year) Yesterday it suddenly lost power, after some testing we noticed that the upper cylinder was dead. Cables checked, coilleads swapped, new plugs, the upper cylinders fuel injector was flow tested at dealer and was ok. If you trim the motor up then it starts better and it seems that even the first cylinder is joining abit. We were thinkin if some water gets into the cyl when trimming down but same thing happens if you do a quick waterless test on the trailer. If the motor is off for about 10 min+ it starts better also. And a odd thing is that if you remove the killer and turn the key and start starting and put it back it starts alot better and the first cylinder is running for a very short time then dies. When its running uptrimmed (1st cyl missfires maybe abit) and then when you trim it down in idle it dies. Could it be some airflow, or air injector problem to the first cylinder or some sensor or what? Fuel seems ok and ignition, maybe the coil anyway allthough the spark seems ok...
Need todo a compression test next on all cyls. Thanks for reading.

continues, and no active fault diag codes either. Just some after self testing. No ecu tps reset is done, would that help ? .. 2 cylinders work great anyway. Runned it again for 5 mins about on 2 cylinders and no fault codes stored.

Put the engine into it's self diagnostic mode and let it tell you what the problem is.

Check in your Factory service manual for the procedure, or take it in to a dealer.

Yup, its at the dealer at the moment, they havent figured out anything yet, will let you know.
Technican said tldis have had only some exotic electrical issues, nothing major very rarely.

Any problem(actually with the engine) is relatively rare. Like all engines, consumer controllable conditions are usually responsible. Battery and fuel being the things that crop up the most.

You definitely do not want fiber reeds. The engine computer will not be able to compensate for the difference.

yup figured :D Better renew all 3 now so they last 5 years minimum again. Heard one lasted for 3 hours on a brand new tldi so you never know ofcourse.
