I have a 1994 Mariah Talari 220 with a 5.7L Merc. When I try to plane off the engine seems to have no power and the boat struggles to get up on plane. Engine revs only peak at 2800RPM at full throttle. Once the boat is up on plane the boat works fine. Also after running for about an hour the engine sometimes backfires and sputters and when I come to a stop and try to go again the again sputters and backfires and almost stalls unless I pull back on the throttle. Anyone have any ideas on the problem I may have?
