I bought (cheap) a 92 bowrider with a 4.3, and an Alpha I Gen II outdrive. The little noise in the u-joints was a broken u-joint assembly that busted the bellhousing and damaged the transom/gimble assembly bracket. I have no place to mount a new boot. The flange is gone on the bell housing, and chipped away in several places on the gimble transom housing. Can I use any alpha bell housing and transom plate, or will it need to be the gen II?

Re: Alpha Gen I& II bell housing interchange

Thanks for the info. I bought the boat on ebay for $1501.28 !!! I had to replace the electric fuel pump (a new one on ebay was $97 including shipping), so I dont have much in it to date. The engine has 170lbs on all 6 cyls, and it runs perfect, so I will return to ebay and the hunt is on for some parts!

If it'll help any in your search, you need Mercruiser part number 806031A 2 for the bellhousing.
