Re: 1998 5.7 Vortec OMC Engine specs
Bondo, this longblock is a 5.7 gm vortec engine with roller cam and vortec heads. I have a cast iron vortec intake manifold on it, with an edelbrock 1409 carb. the ignition is thunderbolt IV. I have center rise manifolds on it, and the alt., starter, powersteering, hoses, and wiring harness from a 1995 mercruiser 350 mag alpha. I checked the spark plug thread depth which is about 3/4" deep, definetly deeper than the 1995 and 1979 350 blocks I have laying around, which are closer to 1/2" deep. It came out of an OMC crate, and I tried to match up the date on the engine block casting, with the OMC vortec engine appearing in 1998. thats about all I can tell you.
