I've got a 1975 15ft fiberglass Rally tri-hull with low low hours (sat for 20+ yrs in storage (has always been stored indoors) I've taken the boat to the shop and they've rebuilt carbuerators, tuned-up, pressure tested, the works. The engine sounds great, smooth and really purrs.

The problem is getting it on plane when I have 4 adults in the boat. When I have 4 adults (roughly 800lbs) on board, and hit the throttle the front of the boat doesn't really raise much and seems we just plow thru and push water. (the splash is coming at the front 1/4 of the boat). It has manual trim. At WOT, even though the motor sounds great, we just can't get up to speed (about 7-8mph) as we just plow and push thru the water so it sounds like we should be really hauling but are actually just crawling along..

I've got a thin fin on it. With two adults, the boat will shoot good and plane out fairly easily with top end speed of 23-24mph.. I've gotten it to plane with 3 adults. Is it because of the added weight of having 4 on the boat? It's rated for 900lbs of people, 85hp, and 1450lbs total weight.

Any suggestions and comments are welcome. I'm not sure how to tell if the hull is waterlogged. I do know that in the bow in the seating area, there is a drain on each side of the boat (to drain water that comes over the top and sides) but I'm not sure where that water drains to, or how to tell where the water drains to. Thanks.

Sounds like you are just overloaded. I have a 14.5 fiberglass with a 50hp on it. I can plane with 4 but they need to be situated right until I'm on plane then move back to their seats. You probably need a little bigger engine for that load.
