1990 200 hp Evinrude Water Pump Problem

My motor is not passing water through the discharge (pee stream). Does this mean the water pump is bad? Is there a way to test the water pump?

Try running a lenght of weed eater line up the dischargr hole and see if a bug or peice of trash has stopped it up; is the motor overheating?

It did not have much power and was cutting out really bad before i noticed no pee stream. The alarm didnt sound but after sutting it off it was very hot.
