Is there any measurable difference between a 20hp or 30hp evinrude carb, meaning intake size on either the front or back of the carb.

1986 evinrude el 20hp upgrade to 30 hp.

i took the carb and intake off and I see the smaller hole in the 20hp intake vs the 30 I'm installing. I have 2 carbs one is right off the 20 hp and another I picked up that is supposedly a 30, how can I tell if it is a 30 carb or not?

Thanks

While I don't know the specific sizes, the bore/verturi should be larger on the 30 as compared to the 20. Kinda like the difference between the 9.9 HP carb and a 15 HP carb.

Well I guess I got taken buying this used 30 carb, It's identical to the 20 I pulled off, unless it had been chaged prior to me getting the motor.

I won't know positively unless I can find the actual measurements

Just another thought I had, the main jet may be a different size between the two.

There's other guys here that are far more knowledgeable than I on the 20-30 HP engines. I am much more familiar with the Johnson/Evinrude 9.9/15 HP and the 6 HP engines.

I have been told they are the same just jetting makes it a 30. But I've also been told it's a different carb, maybe both are correct.

hopefully someone can clear this up for me.

Thanks Again!
