I have a 1992 60HP Johnson, we recently replaced the CDI module, Plugs and Fuel filter and the motor starts with a tap of the key and Idles and runs at low speed (10-22 Km/hr) great. As I throttle up to max it starts skipping/hestiating or starving? makes a loud thrumming (dont know how else to describe) and will not go any faster.
I have cleaned the carbs with carb cleaner (it seemed to make things smoother at the low end), but the issue continues.
Two questions,
1. any idea on what is the issue?
2. Can I run the motor as is at low speed without damage until I can get it out of the water adn to a marina?
