My engine smokes white and when in gear misses quite often has no power. Compression is good 120 psi, fuel is good, spark plugs are new and the right ones. I fig carb or timming but how do i set the carb or time the engine.

Lightly seat low speed jet, back out 1.5 turns. start motor and allow to warm to operating temperature. With motor in gear, between throttle and low speed jet, acquire the lowest idle it will achieve even if carb idle screw has to be turned out also. with that done, turn low idle jet out 1/4 to 1/2 max and no more. Now adjust idle speed on carb to recommended idle rpm. post back. And welcome to iboats.
